Affiliate Terms

1. What this is

An agreement between you and Michael Lynn, who makes Lozenge and runs lozenge.ai. You recommend Lozenge and we pay you a share of what the people you send us buy. It is not employment, a partnership, or an agency: you speak for yourself and we speak for ourselves.

You can read what we tell buyers about all of this in our privacy policy and cookie notice. Nothing here contradicts them, and if it ever seems to, they are right and this page is wrong.

2. How a sale is credited to you

You get a link, lozenge.ai/r/yourname. It lands on our pricing page carrying a short code. If somebody buys in that visit, the code goes to Stripe with their order and we credit you.

We credit a purchase that follows your link in the same visit. We set no cookie, so if somebody follows your link, waits a week and comes back on their own, we cannot tell it was you.

That is a real limitation and we would rather you heard it here than worked it out later. It is the price of this site setting nothing in your reader’s browser, which is a promise we make on the cookie notice and would rather keep. We do not operate a thirty day window, because we have nothing that could remember one.

Which links carry the code. Your /r/ link always does. You can also put ?via=yourname on any page of lozenge.ai, and the code follows the reader through to the pricing page from there. What does not carry it is a plain link with nothing on it, so if you link to us without either of those, that visit is not credited to you. Your own page at lozenge.ai/account/affiliate shows your link and will copy it for you.

The code says nothing about the person who used it. It is your name, not theirs, and we never tell you who bought.

3. What we pay

20 percent of what they pay, before sales tax and before our own payment fees, for 12 months from that referral’s first payment.

• A subscription pays you on its first payment and on every renewal inside that year.
• Presenter and the Pro Pass are bought once, so they pay once.
• We pay on the amount actually charged. Somebody who subscribed at a launch price keeps that price, and your 20 percent is 20 percent of it.
• Amounts are settled in US dollars. Where somebody paid in another currency, we use Stripe’s own rate.

4. When we pay

Monthly, by PayPal or Wise, to the details you give us. A month’s commission is payable on the 15th of the month after next, which is a hold of at least 45 days.

The hold exists because a sale can be refunded or disputed after the fact, and paying you for money we then give back helps nobody. We pay by hand, not automatically, because our payment provider cannot pay you for us.

5. Refunds, disputes, and money coming back

If a sale is refunded or a dispute is lost, the commission on it reverses in full. If that happens before we have paid you, it is simply not paid. If it happens after, it becomes a negative line set against your next month.

We will not invoice you for a negative balance. If one is still outstanding after 90 days with nothing to set it against, we write it off. Chasing you for money over a sale that fell through is not a thing we want to do to somebody who recommended us.

One thing worth knowing, because it is out of both our hands: Stripe is the merchant of record and handles disputes itself. It can refund a sale without asking us if we do not answer within 48 hours. Your commission can therefore reverse through nobody’s fault, including ours.

6. Recommending in good faith

Say what you actually think. Do not claim Lozenge does things it does not do, and do not imply we endorse something we have not seen. Where the rules where you live require you to disclose that a link earns you money, disclose it; we would ask you to anyway.

Buying through your own link is not a referral, and neither is telling a buyer to use it at the till. Bidding on our name in search advertising, sending unsolicited bulk email, or offering a discount we have not agreed to are all out.

7. Ending it, and changing it

Either of us can end this at any time, in writing, without a reason. Ending it stops new referrals being credited. It does not cancel commission you have already earned and that is still inside its 12 months, which we keep paying on the normal schedule.

If we change these terms, the rate and the window that apply to a referral are the ones in force when that referral was made. A change never reaches back into what you have already earned.

We may end it immediately, and withhold unpaid commission, for referrals that are not what they appear to be: self referral, fraud, or a pattern of chargebacks.

8. Your own numbers

You can see your referrals, what they earned, and what is still held, on your own page at lozenge.ai/account/affiliate. It is worked out from Stripe every time, using the same arithmetic we pay from, so there is no second set of books. It can be a minute or so behind a sale. It shows you nothing about any buyer.
